1930's Au Bon Marche Poster
A 1930's Au Bon Marche Poster reproduction, of the iconic Paris Department store. (Image size 20” x 30”)
Le Bon Marché is a department store in Paris, France. Founded in 1838 and revamped almost completely by Aristide Boucicaut in 1852, it was one of the first modern department stores. It was a member of the International Association of Department Stores from 1986 to 2011.
This piece of art is a vintage-style poster advertising a winter clothing collection event for "Au Bon Marché," a well-known department store. The artwork features three figures prominently dressed in winter attire. The person on the left is engaged with a large container, possibly representing a factory or marketplace setting, while wearing a dark coat and bright scarf. The central figure is sporting an elegant ensemble, including white gloves and a hat with a black emblem, adding a touch of sophistication. The person on the right is adorned in a flowing, vibrant pink coat with white fur trim, exuding luxury and style. The poster's overall aesthetic is marked by its use of smooth lines, soft colors, and stylish clothing that highlights the fashion of the era it aims to convey. The text includes details of the event, specifying the date as Tuesday, October 21, and is styled in an elegant, bold font typical of classic advertisements.
